General College Admission Requirements
Listed below are the requirements and procedures that the College has established for admission to the College. For programs with specific admission requirements, please see section Additional Admission Requirements for Programs.
- Students are required to visit the College prior to enrollment to obtain a clear understanding of the College, view the facilities and equipment and may meet with staff and instructors.
- All applicants are required to meet with an Admissions Advisor.
- Applicants must take and pass a standardized entrance exam for select programs.
- All applicants must complete an enrollment agreement (must be signed by a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18 years of age).
- All applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee upon enrollment.
- Applicants enrolling in the College who have a misdemeanor or felony conviction should be aware that they may not meet applicable licensure or certification requirements and may not be able to secure employment in the field. Certain convictions may prevent a student from successfully completing the desired program due to the inability to place students on externship or clinical sites. Be sure to discuss licensing eligibility concerns and the effects of a criminal background on your program goals with your Admissions Advisor, in consultation with Program Director.
-
An applicant for enrollment at the College is required to possess a diploma from an accredited high school or the recognized equivalent. Applicants must provide a copy of their high school diploma, transcripts, or a copy of their GED/HSE.
- The College validates high school diploma or equivalency through a process of comparing documentation received from the student with the state Department of Education database, local school district, and other relevant educational databases.
- High school documentation from a country other than the United States must be translated and certified to be at least the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma by an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
American Career College does not admit students from other countries.
